Sustained elevation gain culminates in grassy, windy summit

Prelude:This itinerary features specific stops for LNT Awareness Workshop

1. EVENT IN BRIEF

Destination mountain: Mt. Kalisungan
Days to climb: One (1) day 

2. DESTINATION MOUNTAIN DESCRIPTION
Location: Calauan, Laguna
Elevation: 760 MASL
Jump-off point: Bgy. Lamot 2 barangay hall, Calauan, Laguna 
Exit point: Bgy. Lamot 2 barangay hall, Calauan, Laguna 
About 80% of trail covered by canopy. The only totally exposed area is the summit, which features limited grassy areas

3. REQUIREMENT TO JOIN (This is to determine and ensure fitness for a whole day of climbing. Honor system: No 
proof required)
a. Day hike within the last 3 months, or
b. 5k run in 40 minutes within the last 3 months but not within 3 days prior to the event, or
c. Un-timed, continuous 10k run within the last 3 months but not within 3 days prior to the event

6. DETAILED ITINERARY
0400am Assembly at HM bus terminal (EDSA Cubao southbound near Aurora Blvd. and Victory Liner). Sign waiver.
0415am ETD HM bus terminal
0600am ETA Masapang (Duck Junction), Victoria, Laguna. Breakfast. 
0630am Take jeep or tricycle to jump off at Brgy. Lamot 2 barangay hall. 
0645am Register. Meet guide.  Briefing. Photo opp. Do LNT principle #1.
0730am Commence trek 
0745am-1145am Stop at clearings for break and discussion of LNT principles #2-4. Full stop at last clearing 
prior to assault.
1200nn ETA summit. Photo opp. Lunch. Discuss LNT principle #5.
0100pm Commence descent
0200pm Stop at clearings for break and discussion of LNT principle #6-7.
0330 ETA jump off point. Wash up. Settle guide fee. Meryenda. Post-climb assessment.
0400 Take jeep back to Masapang (Duck Junction). Take bus to Manila.
0600 ETA Cubao

7. WHAT TO WEAR

a. Appropriate hiking apparel (Recommended: Leggings, arm sleeves and gloves for protection against 
cogon/talahib)
b. Hiking shoes (No sandals and slippers)

8. WHAT TO BRING

Water in reusable container
Packed lunch in reusable container
Snacks/trail food
Umbrella/raincoat
Gloves/arm sleeves/leggings/cap/visor
Headlamp with extra batteries

   Bus - Cubao-Masapang Junction (vice versa): P115.50 x 2 = P231.00
